One of the key aims of the Enterprise Zone is the attraction of 22,000 jobs over its lifespan. Though businesses in the area will span a range of sectors, the project has a particular focus on the hi-tech, low carbon, creative and digital and professional services industries.
In order for businesses in the Enterprise Zone and wider city to thrive, they will need a skilled and engaged workforce. To secure this there are a number of projects and initiatives underway, including:
- Employment and skills requirements are embedded in council contracts wherever possible
- A new secondary school is planned in or near the zone
