MyWorld, a UK Research and Innovation Strength in Places Funded programme, is led by the University of Bristol and is made up of 13 partners from Bristol and Bath, comprising the region’s four research institutions and key organisations from across the creative technology sector. It is an engine of research, innovation and production that will catalyse growth in the West of England’s vibrant creative technology industry.

How we handle your data

If you are signed into your Google account when browsing our website, we may use and analyse the information we collect through analytical software such as Google Analytics to manage and improve the services on the website. Demographic and statistical information about user behaviour may be collected and used to analyse the popularity and effectiveness of the website and to manage and improve the services on the website. We also use Hotjar for similar purposes: to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize their experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

MyWorld will not (nor will it allow any third party to) use the statistical analytics tools to track or collect personally identifiable information of visitors to this website.

MyWorld will collect your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter. All data is stored on our marketing automation platform, MailChimp. Please see Privacy Policy.

How will your information be used

When registering for a MyWorld event through Eventbrite you may be asked to fill in additional information such as occupation and company. This helps us gather a deeper understanding of who is attending our event and helps us manage the equality, diversity and inclusion aspect of our events. Information supplied when registering for a MyWorld event will be used to communicate event details and may be shared with the MyWorld programme partners to promote other MyWorld opportunities and events.

What is our legal basis for processing your personal data?

The data subject has given consent to the processing by signing up for a MyWorld newsletter (hosted on Mailchimp) and/or a MyWorld event (on Eventbrite). Legislation gives individuals a specific right to withdraw consent and you have the right to withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter or contacting MyWorld regarding your data.
