On Thursday 26 January,  Digital Catapult hosted an in-person briefing event for the MyWorld Challenge Call at Bristol Beacon, with over 80 attendees, including developers, creatives, startups, and scaleups from the West of England region.

The afternoon kicked off with an interactive explorative session, asking attendees questions to encourage ideas and thoughts around the theme of creative tooling; such as ‘How can creative tools help us to deliver new approaches to the creation, collaboration and delivery of experiences?’. Individuals scribed their thoughts onto post-it notes and shared them with other creatives on pinboards. Digital Catapult and the MyWorld team closed this session by reflecting these ideas back to the room.

In between the Digital Catapult team introducing the Open Call and providing an insightful guide on the application process, we had the pleasure of hosting Rafah El-Khatib, Inception Programme Manager from NVIDIA, as she presented NVIDIA’s industry challenge for this Open Call. To learn more about this industry challenge, read the ‘Catalysts and Connectors: Tools for the Creative Industries’ blog by Digital Catapult’s Lead Technologist, David Johnston.

Not only was the event an excellent way of launching the Open Call but it also sparked lots of thinking around creative tooling. We gained a variety of interesting responses when asking ‘What words come to mind when we say “creator tools”?’ which you can see via the word cloud above.

For those unable to attend the in-person briefing event there is an online webinar now available to stream via Digital Catapult’s YouTube.
