We were delighted to welcome the very first cohort of MyWorld Scholars to the MyWorld programme as part of the MyWorld Meets event in October.
‘MyWorld Meets’ is an informal monthly gathering of MyWorld partners which took place in Bristol on Tuesday, and next month will take place in Bath.
To start proceedings, Professor David Bull introduced the MyWorld programme, followed by a talk from Professor Kirsten Cater (Skills and Training lead). She highlighted some of the activities and opportunities which the MyWorld Scholars might take advantage of as part of their engagement with MyWorld, and presented each of them with a certificate to mark the occasion.
The welcome event was a fantastic opportunity for the Scholars to meet each other, and to start making connections with members of the MyWorld team. There were representatives from the four universities, partner organisations, and many of the different work streams at this very well-attended event.
The MyWorld Scholars are a group of ten students on a variety of courses linked to the creative industries from across the four Bristol and Bath universities who are affiliated to MyWorld. Subjects that the 2022/23 cohort will study (at undergraduate or postgraduate level) include Data Science, Animation, Audio and Music Technology, Virtual and Extended Realities, Composition of Music for Film and TV, Computer Science and several others.
MyWorld Scholars come from groups which are underrepresented in Higher Education and will each receive a £5000 tuition fee waiver, alongside additional opportunities for development and networking, available to them thanks to being a part of MyWorld. We look forward to staying in touch with the Scholars as their courses progress.
Application information about the MyWorld Scholarship scheme 2023/24 will be updated soon. For details of the 2022/23 scheme please see Scholarships | MyWorld (myworld-creates.com)
